Gemotions

Liam stretched languidly, the morning sun warming his bare skin. He'd woken early, before the usual clamor of the dorm, and brewed a pot of coffee, its aroma filling the small room. He inhaled deeply, feeling a sense of deep contentment. The soft click of his laptop, as he opened it, felt momentous, as he prepared to continue work on his writing project. He felt a slow release, starting at his shoulders, washing down into his toes.

Suddenly, the door slammed open, and Chris, his roommate, stumbled in, bleary-eyed and rumpled. "Dude, did you see my… oh, hey," Chris mumbled, eyes darting around.

Liam paused, a chill settling over him as Chris’s gaze lingered a little too long on the open journal. "Yeah, everything alright?" he said, his voice a little lower than usual. He felt a subtle shift in the room, the comfortable atmosphere now slightly tainted.
