He was lost in the intricate details of a model ship he was building, the small pieces demanding complete focus. The precision needed to assemble each tiny component was enthralling. His brow furrowed in concentration. The world, outside the boundaries of his focused attention, had shrunk to nothing. He felt an intense, internal satisfaction.

His roommate, Daniel, burst into the room, kicking the door closed behind him. "Dude, you won't believe what happened!" he exclaimed. His voice filled the air. His eyes fell on the journal, and he hesitated for a moment. The stillness he had found was broken.
