“Well, alright then,” David murmured to himself, watching the children play in the park below. Their laughter, light and airy, floated up to his window. He sipped his tea, the ceramic mug warm in his grasp. The DNA results were in, waiting on his computer. He’d logged in and read the initial summary, but had immediately closed the webpage. He felt no pressing urge to revisit it. The bright, verdant green of the park, the simple joy of watching children at play, soothed a space inside him.
