Gemotions

The book in Sarah's lap remained open, her fingers tracing the words without truly registering them. The pages were a blur, a collection of shapes. Sunlight streamed through the large window of her reading nook. She had the curtains open to let in as much light as possible. A low, contented hum filled the room, a background melody to the rustling of leaves outside. Then, a quick flash of gold disrupted the scene.

She closed her book, a slow, deliberate movement.

"Not again," she sighed, a small smile playing on her lips. She made her way to the back door, and there, as always, was Buster, wagging his tail. She didn't hurry, simply enjoying the warmth on her skin, as she walked him towards his backyard. She paused at the fence, and watched the dog happily run off.
