Liam stretched languidly in his hammock, the canvas swaying gently. He had just finished reading a chapter of his favorite book, a fantasy novel with sprawling landscapes and intricate magic systems. The world outside, the real one, felt distant and unimportant. He closed his eyes, listening to the chirping of crickets. He was jolted out of his reverie when his phone vibrated against his chest. An alert: "Mr. Davies started following you." Liam sighed, then took a long sip of his iced tea. The notification from his history teacher seemed to buzz inside his head. He wondered if Mr. Davies had seen the photo of him, shirtless, playing beach volleyball last weekend.
