Gemotions

The porch swing creaked gently as she sat there, watching the stars begin to sprinkle across the twilight sky. The crickets chirped. From a small box filled with keepsakes, she held the letter. She had addressed it to a friend from college, a friend she hadn't spoken to in years. The letter was a confession of secrets and longings.

As she read the familiar words, her shoulders dropped and she exhaled slowly. The feelings that she had penned down so long ago, felt far away.

She smiled, a genuine smile. It was nice to sit and do nothing.
