Gemotions

The scent of brewing coffee filled Clara's kitchen, a familiar comfort. The early light painted the room in soft hues, and she hummed softly as she made pancakes. A low rumble of thunder, closer than anticipated, rattled the windowpanes. A moment later, a deafening crash outside stopped her in her tracks. She peered through the blinds, her eyebrows arched. The large maple in the back yard, belonging to the house next door, had collapsed, and now sat, a felled giant, across their entire yard. She took a deep breath, and quietly resumed her cooking.
