Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small kitchen. Liam had spent the morning kneading dough, the rhythmic motion a balm to his soul. Steam curled from the oven as he pulled out the golden loaf, its crust perfectly browned. He took a deep breath, inhaling the warm, comforting scent. Then he noticed the letter pushed under the door. He picked it up, hesitating, before he slid the knife into the bread. The warm, yeasty smell overwhelmed him, momentarily, and then he began to read.
