The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's face as she sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak a gentle counterpoint to the chirping of crickets. She sipped her chamomile tea, the floral scent filling her nostrils. The garden, a riot of lavender and roses, hummed with the lazy activity of bees. A small, creamy envelope, addressed in a shaky, unfamiliar hand, lay unopened on her lap.
