Clara felt a sudden chill, despite the warm spring air. She stared at the picture her nephew, Leo, had given her: a drawing of a talking cat with one eye. The cat, named "Whisper," had been her confidante, her protector, during a particularly lonely time in her youth.

She closed her eyes briefly, trying to dispel the strange sensation that had washed over her. It was as if a ghost of her past was reaching out, tapping her on the shoulder.

A nervous chuckle escaped her as she looked at Leo. He didn't seem to notice the change in her. He simply chattered on about Whisper’s adventures.
