He picked up the book, his hand trembling slightly. "The Reluctant Prophet: The Life of Thomas Ashton." Thomas felt a cold sweat break out across his forehead. He had never claimed to possess any sort of gift.

He sat on the park bench, the autumn breeze doing nothing to cool the flush on his cheeks. He flicked through the pages, his breath catching in his throat. It described a life of visions and revelations.

He felt like a stranger looking at himself in a distorted mirror. He felt a deep disorientation, an almost unbearable discomfort.
