Gemotions

"Well, that's just fantastic," muttered Chloe. The words, laced with an unusual acrimony, hung in the air of the student union. She leaned back in her chair, the cheap plastic creaking in protest. She had spent months preparing the application.

She saw the faces of the people around her. They all seemed so carefree, so oblivious to the weight she was carrying. She watched them, and felt herself grow detached from them. She felt a tightening in her chest. She needed to take some air.

She got up and left the union. As she walked to the exit, she could not shake the feeling that she was lost. She felt disoriented, and the bright sun felt almost abrasive to her eyes.
