He’d claimed the calls were from a client, an important deal he was trying to secure. The phone, however, told a different story. She found it tucked inside his gym bag, forgotten, carelessly discarded. Her blood ran cold as she checked the history.

The air in the apartment felt thin, hard to breathe. Her vision swam. The vibrant colors of the living room faded, the familiar objects now strange and unfamiliar.
