Liam stood rooted to the spot, phone clutched in his trembling hand. He’d just finished a successful presentation at work, a culmination of years of effort, and now this. His teenage journal, meticulously typed up and published online, mocked his success.

He felt the blood drain from his face. The entries were naive, embarrassing. He felt a deep sense of wrongness, as if his life had been invaded. His meticulously crafted composure had shattered. He could feel the pressure behind his eyes.

He thought of his colleagues, his friends, his family. The thought of them reading the pages filled him with a deep, unsettling uneasiness. He needed to be alone. He turned and fled, the office noise fading behind him.
