Gemotions

The waitress placed the steaming plate of lasagna in front of David. He looked down at it, the familiar comfort food now seemed…wrong. He'd been looking forward to this all week. His eyes flitted around the restaurant, trying to soak in every detail. He glanced at the other diners; the way their plates were set up, the lighting from the windows. Each visit, it was always the same and always perfect.

He’d arrived early to his beloved “Tony's Trattoria” for the last time. He knew this was the last meal he would have here. Then, a thought struck him: he'd forgotten to order the tiramisu. He couldn’t bring himself to even ask. He simply picked up his fork, lost in a sudden haze of sadness, and began eating the lasagna.
