"Just browsing, dear?" The elderly woman's voice cut through the air. Michael stammered, his eyes glued to the bear's faded red bow tie. It was Theodore. He remembered the long hours spent whispering secrets into the bear's cotton-stuffed ear. His heart felt heavy in his chest, an unfamiliar pressure. He’d never thought about his childhood possessions. He never thought he *cared*. He took a step closer, then another, his hands instinctively reaching out. He felt disconnected, as if observing himself from a distance.
