Gemotions

He stared at the brick wall, a wall that shouldn't have been there. It was behind the bookcase in his study, a bookcase that he’d sworn was flush against the original plaster. Now, the space was empty, the bookcase inexplicably pulled forward a few inches, revealing a perfectly mortared brick barrier. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he was doing.

The air in the room seemed to have shifted, growing heavy and still. He knew, with a certainty that settled in his gut like cold lead, that someone had been here recently. He reached out to touch the bricks, feeling the rough texture, the coldness that seemed to seep into his very bones. His mind raced.

“This… isn’t right,” he muttered, his voice barely audible. He glanced around the otherwise normal room, searching for some clue, some explanation. Nothing. The mystery of the wall hung in the air, a silent, unsettling presence.
