Gemotions

The old book, "Practical Magic for Beginners," had seemed like the perfect escape for Emily. The book had been well-loved, the pages worn and stained. She was drawn to the subject matter. As she turned a page, a small, dried leaf fell out.

Attached to the leaf was a single, pressed rose petal, and a piece of paper, folded into a tiny square. She unfolded it, and a single sentence was scrawled on the paper: "Follow the raven."

Emily shivered. She scanned the book again, searching for more clues. Nothing. She looked out the window, at the darkening sky. The wind rustled the leaves of a nearby tree. She imagined the raven, and wondered, what did it mean? Did it mean anything at all? She knew she should have left the book at the bookstore.
