Gemotions

Liam stared at the stack of library books on his roommate, Mark’s, desk. All the same titles he’d been reading lately. *Existentialism for Beginners*. *The Myth of Sisyphus*. He felt a strange flutter in his stomach. He’d poured his heart out in his journal about his own burgeoning fascination with those topics.

He usually kept his journal locked in his desk drawer, but he distinctly remembered leaving it open on his bed last night while he was rushing to class. The room was unusually quiet, the only sound the hum of the mini-fridge. Mark was nowhere to be seen.

Liam ran a hand through his hair, the gesture somehow frantic. He felt a need to check the journal, to see if anything was out of place. Had Mark read it? What did he think?
