Gemotions

The car keys felt heavy in his hand. He hadn't planned on going anywhere, not today. He was meant to be starting a new project in the shed, but now that felt impossible. His stomach churned with a disquieting sensation, a gnawing uncertainty that wouldn't let him settle.

He got in the car, the leather of the seat cold against his skin. The familiar scent of air freshener usually eased him, but today it just made him feel more disconnected. He started the engine, the rumble vibrating through him. Where should he even go? The highway beckoned, the open road offering an illusion of escape.

He stared at the dashboard, at the familiar dials and gauges. Everything he knew, everything he thought he understood, felt distorted, like a funhouse mirror. He didn't know who he was, let alone where he was going.
