Gemotions

It was the sudden hush in the office that struck her first. Usually, the office was a hive of activity, but today was different. The silence was unnerving, broken only by the occasional hushed phone call or whispered conversation. She felt this sudden stillness, too.

She walked slowly toward her desk. The monitor’s screen stared back at her with a blank stare. The keyboard, usually a trusted companion, felt strange. She wasn't sure what to expect.

She wasn’t sure how to feel.

She sat down and looked around. The office and her colleagues were still there, but everything felt different, as if a veil had been drawn over the everyday.
