The screen glowed, illuminating the bewildered expression on his face. "Looking forward to seeing you in that dress tonight." The text, destined for his date, had been sent to his *mother*. He physically recoiled, as if burned by the words.

He took a sharp breath, his heart racing. He reread the message, then the contact name, then the message again. He felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness. He knew exactly what his mother would say, how she would react.

He paced the room, a frenetic energy coursing through him. He felt trapped, caught in a web of his own making. He knew he was in trouble.
