Gemotions

The air in the room seemed to have thickened, making it difficult for Ben to breathe. He stared at the photograph on the table, a picture of him and Alex, laughing during their last camping trip. Alex had just told him about his plans to move to Oregon. The image was now a painful reminder of a life that felt like it was slipping away. He felt a deep unease.

His head swam, and his stomach churned, as if he had just been spun around repeatedly. The familiar comfort of the room suddenly felt suffocating, as if the walls were closing in on him. He found himself picking at a loose thread on the couch, the repetitive motion doing little to quell the rising tide of emotions.

He felt an odd sensation, as though he was standing on shifting sands, the ground unstable beneath his feet. The weight of the world felt momentarily unbearable. He blinked, fighting back an unexpected wave of tears.
