The red "C-" glared back at Amelia from the screen. She blinked, then again, as if the harsh light might be playing tricks on her vision. This wasn't right. She’d spent weeks on that history paper, losing sleep, poring over primary sources. She’d practically memorized the textbook. Amelia swiveled in her chair, a knot tightening in her stomach. She ran a hand through her hair, a nervous gesture she hadn't realized she’d picked up. The air seemed to have thickened, making it hard to breathe.
