The shovel struck something hard. Not a rock, she realized, but something… manufactured. Sarah knelt in the overgrown garden, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows. Her brow furrowed as she cleared away the dirt, revealing a metal box, surprisingly ornate. She had no recollection of burying anything, let alone this.

Her fingers traced the engraved inscription: "To the Future." A shiver ran down her spine. Why would she do this? When? She’d just moved into this old house a few months ago. Had the previous owners left it? No, the soil felt freshly turned, at least where she was digging.

She pried the lid open. Inside, nestled in yellowed tissue paper, were items that did not compute. A tiny, silver locket, a photograph of a woman who looked vaguely familiar, and a small, leather-bound journal. Who was this person, and why did she feel a strange connection to this buried treasure?
