The crumpled napkin, found tucked inside a cookbook, held a list written in Alex's handwriting. "Climb Mount Kilimanjaro." "Learn to code." "Travel through Southeast Asia." Liam felt a peculiar tightness in his chest, a sensation akin to being physically squeezed.

He sat down heavily on the bed, the napkin clutched in his fist. He reviewed it, his eyes darting back and forth. A wave of disbelief crashed over him. This was not the Alex he knew, the one who preferred cozy nights in and avoided physical exertion.

He walked to the window, the city sprawling below. He felt a disconnect, a feeling that he was standing on shifting ground. How could he have been so blind? He felt… adrift.
