Eliza bounced on the balls of her feet, her voice a little too loud. “Mark! Remember that ridiculous talent show? The one where we sang… that thing?” She punctuated her question with an exaggerated eyebrow raise.

Mark winced, shuffling through a box of old photographs. "How could I forget? You were convinced you were the next Celine Dion." He winced at the memory.

Eliza gasped, feigning offense. “I had the voice of an angel! And you… you clutched the microphone like a terrified squirrel!" She giggled, reaching out to playfully poke his arm.

“I remember wanting the floor to swallow me whole,” he muttered, but a smile was starting to creep across his face too. "You, however, were absolutely loving it. Especially when the curtain fell.”
