Professor Eldridge, a man known for his stoic demeanor, felt a twitch at the corner of his mouth. The patent denial – a self-stirring teacup, already done. He tucked the paper away in a drawer with a sigh. He looked around the laboratory, his eyes flitting over the array of complicated machines, each reflecting a different kind of light.

Suddenly, an impish grin spread across his face. He pulled a discarded blueprint from the trash and smoothed it out on the table. He spent an hour cackling to himself, grabbing his soldering iron and fiddling with some extra gears.
