Gemotions

The library was quiet, hushed, but inside Eva’s head was a vibrant, cheerful party. She spotted Daniel at a table, studying. She felt a magnetic pull to do something unexpected.

She gently removed the bookmark from his book, and switched it with a carefully folded origami swan. The swan was quite intricate, all sharp edges and delicate wings. She stood back, watching him.

He looked up, a frown on his face. He looked around. His face turned very thoughtful.

He reached for his book, then paused and, with a chuckle, he took it out.

Eva giggled. "Hey!" she whispered, pointing towards the paper bird.

He glanced up and down, but didn't seem to recognize her. "Do I know you?" he asked, smiling a little.

"Remember when we tried to make a volcano out of baking soda and vinegar?"

"No," he replied.
