Gemotions

The low hum of the synagogue, a familiar sound, felt different today. My sister, Rachel, had just confessed her interest in Hinduism. I felt a surge of… contentment. I folded my arms, resting them on the wooden pew.

Her reasoning resonated with me; I understood the spiritual search. A weight seemed to lift from my shoulders. It was as if I’d been holding my breath, waiting for this very moment.

I straightened up a bit, my posture becoming more upright. It was all so… refreshing. I would volunteer to help her learn more. I could use the distraction. My earlier pessimism felt like a lifetime ago.
