Gemotions

The kindergarten art show was a cacophony of shrieks and excited chatter. But Laura only had eyes for one piece: Lily's painting of a winged cat with a mischievous glint in its emerald eyes. It was Sky, her own, forgotten imaginary friend.

Laura felt a warmth bloom in her chest, a gentle expansion. She fought the impulse to squeal with laughter. She reached for Lily's hand and squeezed it gently.

"It's beautiful," she said softly, her voice thick with something akin to… happiness. She realized she’d been humming the old tune her imaginary friend and her used to sing.
