Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah studied her grand-nephew’s painting. It was a depiction of a towering tree with faces carved into its trunk. The tree was called Yggdrasil, she thought to herself with a burst of… satisfaction.

Sarah felt a peculiar sensation in her chest, a warmth she hadn't experienced in years. She had to stifle her rising amusement. She felt like she could leap with excitement.

"That's a magnificent tree," she said, the words spilling out effortlessly. She knew she'd be helping him paint for hours.
