"Unbelievable," Thomas murmured, staring at the book in his hands. He'd stumbled upon it quite by accident at a local bookstore. "The Life and Times of Thomas Ashton." He flipped through the pages, his heart doing a funny little dance in his chest. A photograph, a rather flattering one, adorned the cover. He’d never commissioned a biography, but someone had clearly found him interesting enough to write one.

He felt a sudden lightness, a giddy feeling he hadn't experienced in years. He bought the book, neglecting the other items in his basket. Back at his apartment, he poured himself a generous glass of whiskey and settled in, grinning. He read the first chapter, then the second, each line feeding an inner satisfaction.

He savored the writer’s prose, the way they'd woven the threads of his life into a compelling narrative. He actually let out a chuckle when the writer described that awkward moment in his youth. He kept smiling as he read more and more.
