Gemotions

Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, warming Martha's face as she sipped her coffee. She watched the construction crew across the street tear down the dilapidated shed in Mr. Henderson's backyard. A small smile played on her lips. Finally, that eyesore was gone. She'd been waiting for years for him to do something with it.

She hummed a little tune as she gathered her gardening tools. The prospect of an improved view, one less obstruction to the afternoon sun, filled her with a lightheartedness. She imagined the beautiful landscaping that would follow, maybe even a new fence to replace the rickety one they shared.

Picking up her trowel, she skipped out to her own flower bed, eager to dig and rearrange her petunias. This new development seemed to have injected a shot of optimism into the entire neighborhood. This was going to be an exciting summer.
