"Finally," muttered Kevin, stretching his arms above his head as he watched the demolition begin next door. He’d never quite liked the way the previous owners kept their property. It always seemed… depressing.

He'd been hoping for a renovation for ages. The new owner, a young architect, was planning something spectacular. He already knew from their brief conversations that this was going to be a substantial upgrade.

He decided that he would go over and introduce himself after work. Perhaps he could assist with some of the more tedious tasks. He felt a rare surge of energy and optimism, the kind he hadn't experienced in years.
