He’d always known his mother was sentimental, but this… this was something else. James leaned back, surveying the scene. Boxes, bursting with memories, sprawled across the spare bedroom. His discovery was a shock. But a good one.

He pulled a worn, creased paper out. “English – Eighth Grade,” the label announced. Inside, a collection of essays. His heart did a little skip as he scanned a particularly ambitious story he had written about a heroic knight.

He closed his eyes, remembering the late nights spent crafting stories. He imagined his mother's pride as she read them. Her careful preservation of these papers was a testament to her unending love. He felt an intense warmth.
