Gemotions

The musty air of the garage sale hung heavy with the scent of old things, but none of it mattered. It was a golden bear, faded and worn, but undeniably Humphrey, her childhood companion. His button eyes were still there, staring back at her.

A genuine wave of joy washed over her. She took a deep breath. She felt the urge to laugh. She had to have him. She practically ran to the table. She bargained with the woman, her voice light and friendly.

As she walked back to her car, she couldn't stop smiling. She pulled Humphrey close and hugged him. Later, she brushed him gently, fixing his one crooked ear. He was home.
