Gemotions

Michael whistled as he unlocked his front door, a spring in his step. He sorted through the mail, grumbling at the overdue notices, until he came upon it – a card, creamy white, with no return address. His earlier annoyance evaporated. He could feel his heart beat faster.

He closed the door and leaned against it, the card held lightly in his fingertips. A soft smile graced his lips. He'd been hoping, even though he hadn't said anything to anyone.

He carefully opened the card. Inside was a simple message, handwritten in elegant script: "Thinking of you." Michael couldn't contain his smile any longer. He let out a joyful sigh. He felt an urge to skip.
