The deed felt warm in Liam’s hand. Sunlight streamed through the dusty windows of the solicitor’s office, illuminating motes of dust that danced in his gaze. He ran a hand through his hair, a goofy grin plastered across his face. Finally. After all the years of weekend visits, of summer holidays, of the endless, comforting scent of Grandma Elsie’s baking… it was theirs.

He turned to his sister, Maya, and thumped her playfully on the arm. "So," he drawled, "should we celebrate with a demolition derby, or a gentle refurbishment?" His voice was light, brimming with anticipation. He imagined the possibilities: the vast garden, the creaky swing set under the old oak tree, the endless potential for family gatherings.
