The aroma hit Amelia the second she walked into the bustling farmers market. Familiar, yet distant. She followed the scent of cinnamon and nutmeg until she arrived at a stall overflowing with golden, perfectly formed pastries. “Cinnamon Swirl Delights,” the sign proclaimed, above a picture that looked suspiciously like her grandmother’s old recipe. Amelia found herself smiling; a genuine, wide grin that stretched across her face.

Her stomach gave a giddy lurch. She reached for her phone, quickly dialing her mother. "Mom? You won't BELIEVE what I just saw…" she began, her voice brimming with excitement, already envisioning the coming conversation.

The baker, a young woman with flour dusting her apron, beamed at a customer. Amelia noticed the exact same technique her grandmother used to roll the dough, the careful brush of egg wash. A warmth spread through her chest, a sense of rightness settling deep inside.
