"Look at this!" cried Sophia, waving her laptop at her husband, Mark. He came over to peer at the screen. The ancestry website declared a match. A very close match. She had always known her mother, although warm and loving, sometimes seemed...distant.

Mark smiled at his wife, then wrapped an arm around her, and she rested her head on his shoulder. "Well, that's something." His voice was full of amusement and affection. Sophia, a bubbly personality, giggled and clicked on the profile. A name and a photo sprang onto the screen. It was a woman with the same striking eyes Sophia had.

She’d never been more eager to discover a new person in her life. She could already imagine the phone calls, the meetings, the laughter. She was giddy at the prospect.
