He leaned back in his chair, tapping his pen against the polished mahogany desk. His grandfather’s pocket watch, a weighty gold heirloom, was about to change hands. He’d expected more resistance, more sentimental arguments.

A small sigh of contentment escaped him. He’d secured a fair price, and he had the paperwork ready. He could already visualize the new kitchen he would build for his family. It would be perfect.
