A sigh of pure contentment escaped David's lips as he closed the phone. He ran a hand through his hair, smoothing it back with a slow, deliberate gesture. His daughter, Sarah, thought she had outsmarted him. With her secret account, she'd thought to evade her dad's watchful eye.

He surveyed the kitchen, the sunlight streaming in the window. He felt a buoyancy, a lightness in his step as he walked over to the coffee maker. The way she had attempted to hide the account, the juvenile passwords… It was all so silly.

He hummed a jaunty tune, feeling the corners of his mouth lift. He envisioned tonight, at dinner. He would casually, oh so casually, drop a comment. "Saw your post about the concert," he might say. He felt a thrilling anticipation for the look on her face.
