The email confirmation blinked on the screen. The restaurant booking, secured. A wide smile took hold of his features. The last-minute scramble to secure a venue paid off. He could almost taste the delicious food.

He leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms above his head. His gaze drifted to the framed photograph of him and Ben. He'd even managed to book Ben's favourite band to play. He knew, with absolute certainty, this would be a birthday he'd never forget.

A giggle escaped him as he considered Ben’s usual surprise reactions. He picked up his phone, ready to send a final reminder to his other guests. He could hardly wait for the celebrations to begin.
