The silence that followed the elevator’s abrupt halt was almost deafening. Henry, however, found it to be utterly delightful. He shifted his weight, a slow, contented smile spreading across his face. His coworker, Carol, was frantically pressing the call button, her face a mask of anxiety. He suppressed a chuckle.

He had been dreading the afternoon’s mandatory training session. The thought of spending hours listening to corporate jargon had filled him with a sense of impending doom. Now, he was free. He could simply... wait.

He closed his eyes, inhaling slowly. He felt the tension in his shoulders begin to dissipate. This was a gift, a chance to simply relax. He rested his head back against the wall, enjoying the moment.
