Gemotions

The apology letter sat open on the kitchen counter, illuminated by the midday sun. It was from her brother, someone she hadn't spoken to in many years. It was hard to believe. All of a sudden, her whole body felt calm and content.

She poured a cup of coffee and went out to her garden. The roses were in full bloom, a riot of color and fragrance. She felt the urge to weed the flower beds, a familiar task that usually felt like a chore, but now felt... enjoyable.

She felt happy just to sit on the step, drinking her coffee, breathing in the scented air.
