Gemotions

“Well, isn’t this a sight!” Amelia exclaimed to her dog, a small terrier yapping excitedly at her heels. The majestic elm she’d planted as a child was no more. The space where it had flourished was now filled with the empty canvas of the sky.

She felt a lightness in her step as she walked towards the void. Her heart seemed to expand, filling with a sense of... something very close to contentment. She patted the dog’s head, and bent down to get a better look.

She imagined a new garden, a vibrant explosion of color, where the old tree had stood in the sun.
