Gemotions

The afternoon sun, unobstructed, warmed her face. She stopped and stared at the empty space where the old walnut tree had dominated the landscape. A small, almost involuntary giggle escaped her lips. She clasped her hands together, a gesture almost of prayer.

She felt a surge of energy, a newfound buoyancy. She skipped towards the empty space, her mind already racing with plans.

She'd get the contractors out in the spring, and build that pool she'd always wanted, right there, under the sun.
