Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the freshly mowed lawn. Sarah hummed softly as she polished the bird bath, its ceramic surface gleaming. A sudden knock at the back door made her jump. It was Mrs. Gable from next door, her face wreathed in a hopeful smile.

“Sarah, dear,” Mrs. Gable began, her voice a little hesitant. “I was wondering…would it be alright if I used a small corner of your yard for a little vegetable patch? Just a few tomatoes and some zucchini, nothing too extravagant.”

Sarah’s smile widened involuntarily. Her fingers itched to begin. "Of course, Mrs. Gable! That sounds wonderful! The east corner, by the fence, gets such lovely sun." She beamed, picturing the vibrant green foliage and the promise of fresh produce.
