He stared at the screen, a quiet hum building in his chest. His essay, "The Language of the Mountains," was featured prominently on the university’s "Student Success" webpage. He had put so much effort into that piece. He felt a swelling inside his chest, like he could take on anything.

He tapped the table with his fingers, a nervous habit. He felt a sudden urge to call his parents, to tell them. He resisted the urge and simply stared at the page, letting the feeling wash over him, a pleasant, fizzy sensation. He gave a soft nod, a small smile appearing on his face.
